Group EMDR Therapy
Group EMDR therapy, also known as EMDR’s Group Traumatic Episode Protocol (G-TEP), is an evidence-based treatment for processing distressing and/or traumatic events in a supportive group setting.
How it’s similar to individual EMDR therapy:
-
Includes grounding exercises and mindfulness to help you feel centered and safe
-
Utilizes bilateral stimulation during processing to support your brain’s natural healing process
How it’s different:
-
You won’t be asked to share the details of your experience -- not with the group and not with the therapist
-
Incorporates elements of creative expression, like drawing or writing, to help guide the process
-
Offers the added support of doing this work alongside others, while still focusing on your own experience
Healing doesn’t have to happen alone. Group EMDR therapy offers a gentle, structured way to process past experiences that still feel unresolved alongside others who are also taking steps toward healing.
Already have a therapist? Joining an EMDR therapy group can build on that progress
If you're already working with a great therapist, joining an EMDR therapy group can complement and enhance the work you’re doing.
Whether you're navigating trauma, anxiety, or other emotional challenges, adding adjunctive EMDR into the mix while you continue to work with your existing talk therapist can accelerate your healing and provide deeper insights.
